到電影院去看電影
除了在上次那篇提到的 go to the movies, see a movie 以外
還有一個說法是 catch a movie
例如: Would you like to catch a movie after work?
不過這個說法只能用 a movie
而且只能指到電影院去看
假如是想在家裡看, 就要用上次講的 watch a movie (因為是在電視上)
上次教了大家其實 the movies 指的是放映電影的地方, 也就是電影院
所以口語中常聽到: We were at the movies the other day when we saw Ted and his
new girlfriend.
用這樣的說法來表示是發生在電影院的事
電影院有另一個說法叫 cinema [ˋsɪnəmə]
HBO 的子台 Cinemax 就是由 cinema + max 兩字組成
表示是 ”最大的電影院”, “電影最多的地方” 這樣的意思
HBO 則是 home box office
意思是 ”電影售票處就在我家”
也就是坐在家裡就有管道可以看到各種電影的意思囉~
