”化妝品” 叫 make-up 或 cosmetics 但 make-up 是日常生活中較常用的說法 如果妝已化在臉上, 就是 wear make-up 比如你覺得一個人今天好像有化妝 就問她: Are you wearing make-up (today)? 但是把妝化到臉上(本來沒妝), 則是 put on make-up 比如要說”我正在化妝”, 就是: I’m putting on my / some make-up. 或 I’m putting my / some make-up on. ”擦香水”或任何其他的化妝品, 也是用同樣的動詞 wear 或 put on 表達 比如”你有擦香水嗎?” 就是 Are you wearing perfume? ”擦上身”則是 put on… 比如: I forgot to put some perfume on. (我忘了擦香水) ”口紅” 是 lipstick ”唇蜜” 是 lip gloss ”護唇膏” 是 lip balm ”睫毛膏” 是 mascara (重音在第二音節) ”眼線” 是 eyeliner ”眼影” 則是 eyeshadow ”腮紅” 是 rouge / blush ”粉” 是 face powder ”粉底” 是 powder foundation ”指甲油” 是 nail polish (欲知正確發音請利用奇摩字典, 它可以唸給你聽哦) 所以”你有擦口紅嗎?” 就是: Are you wearing lipstick? She is wearing scary eyeshadow today. (她今天擦很嚇人的眼影) Tracy always wears eyeliner. (Tracy 總是有畫眼線) 另外, “卸妝” 的說法是 take off one’s make-up 比如: She went to bed without taking off her make-up. (她沒卸妝就去睡了) Your pores will be clogged if you don’t do a good job taking off your make-up. (如果不仔細卸妝的話, 你的毛孔就會阻塞)
