也可以用來指抹上香水或化妝品
像 She wore a black dress to the party. 就是此人穿著黑色洋裝出現在宴會場合
大家看到她時, 她身上已經是穿著這件洋裝了
What perfume are you wearing? / What’s that perfume you’re wearing?
則是問對方現在身上擦的是什麼香水
put on… 則是 ”穿上... / 戴上... / 擦上... (香水, 化妝品)” 的意思
跟中文一樣, 指的是從無到有的過程
像 Put on your jacket. It’s cold outside. 就是要對方 ”穿上” 外套, 表示他現在是沒有穿外套的
She is putting on some make-up. 則是指她正在化妝, 也就是說她原本臉上是沒有化妝的
如果看到她時已經有化妝, 就會說 She is wearing make-up today.
dress 這個字當動詞用, 要用被動語態 be dressed, 後面要加個介系詞 in, 才能接衣服
意思和 wear 一樣
比如: She is dressed in a black leather jacket.
不過太囉嗦, 所以雖然也可以, 一般人還是比較常用 She is wearing… 的說法
比較常用在講某人穿什麼顏色
像 She was dressed in black.
dress up 則是指盛裝打扮, 穿上平時不會穿的漂亮衣服
像 My sister is dressing up for a date tonight.
也可以用 be dressed up 當形容詞用, 指 ”盛裝打扮的”
像 A: Why is Josh all dressed up today?
B: He has a meeting with the CEO.
平常若看到老外朋友突然打扮了起來
就可以問 他: What’s the occasion?
意思是 ”今天是什麼日子 (場合), 讓你穿這麼漂亮呀?”
或是 Why are you all dressed up today?
直接問 Why are you wearing a suit / a dress today? 的話
雖然也可以, 意思也通, 但語氣上比較唐突和不客氣
帶有一點質疑的意味, 暗示對方平常給你的印象也許是和西裝或洋裝搭不上邊的人
Why are you all dressed up? 只是說對方今天 ”特地” 打扮了, 沒有任何瞧不起人的意思
這種文化上的 ”眉角”, 就是一般台灣人不知道的了
