大部份的英文教材或翻譯都把 common sense 譯為「普通常識」
事實上是個誤導大家的錯誤翻譯
sense 這個字有「常理；道理；直覺」等意思
所以 common sense 其實指的是「大家都(該)知道的道理/常理」
通常是依據直覺或人情事理的判斷
「普通常識」其實是 general knowledge 才對
通常是透過學習而得到的知識或資訊
比如水在攝氏一百度會沸騰，這是general knowledge
不可以把手放進沸騰的水裡，否則會被燙傷，這才是common sense
穿黑色會顯瘦，是general knowledge
工作面試時不該穿得太邋遢，是common sense
吃太多甜食會蛀牙是general knowledge
在上司面前批評其他同事是不智之舉，這是common sense
我們來造個句：
