assure, ensure, insure 三個字都是動詞
常有人搞不清楚 assure 和 ensure 的差別
而 ensure 和 insure 又是同音字
assure 是 ”向...(人) 保證; 使...(人)安心” 的意思
它後面要接 ”人” 當受詞
比如: He assured me that everything would be fine.
(他向我保證一切會沒事的)
ensure 則是 ”確保” 的意思
後面要接 ”物” 當受詞, 如品質, 安全等
例如: The certificate ensures the quality of the product.
(這張證書確保了產 品的品質)
insure 則是 ”為...投保保險” 的意思
它也要用 ”物” 當受詞
它的名詞就是 insurance
比如郵局的人可能問你: Would you like to insure this package?
(你要為這個包裹買保險嗎?)
或: The model insured her legs for a million dollars.
(這名模特兒為她的腿投保了一百萬)
但是, 要表達為某人買保險的話
就要用 “buy an insurance policy for 人” 的句型
(policy [ˋpɑləsi] )
比如: She bought a three-million-dollar life insurance policy for her husband.
(她為她的丈夫投保了三百萬的壽險)
