甚至還看過一本書 (現在想想應該是台灣出的書吧, 唉...)
上面說, a couple of 是 ”兩個”, 而 couple of… 是 ”幾個”
現在真相大白囉! 原來 a couple of ... 真的就是字面上的 ”兩個” 的意思!
只是在台灣, 大部份的人都以為它是指 ”幾個”
連大部份的中籍老師也是如此, 所有的中文翻譯也是翻成 ”幾個”
所以像每次聽到電視或電影裡說 a couple (of) days ago 就被翻成 ”幾天前”
大家就一路錯到底......
不過大家不用太難過, 因為連有些老外自己也搞不太清楚
但你若真正去問他們的時候, 在 ”理智” 上大家幾乎都會告訴你它是 ”兩個” 的意思
我的好友文文就提到知名譯者王麗莎在她的部落格提醒大家, 其實 a couple of 是 ”兩個”
我的老公是美國人, 他也是這麼說的
couple 當然也可以指一對夫妻或情侶
但 a couple of ... (人或物), 如 a couple of guys, a couple of drinks
就是 ”兩個” 傢伙, “兩杯” 飲料的意思哦!
如果要指三四個的話, 要用 a few
