可是它只能指高中三、四年級(美國高中是四年)或大學三、四年級的學生
(複數是upperclassmen，女生則是upperclasswoman/upperclasswomen)
但是這個字其實很少用，根據字典的統計是屬於使用率在百分之五十以下的字
所以高中或大學會用各個年級的說法：freshman, sophomore [ˋsɑfmor] , junior, senior
(高中之前則會用幾年級的說法)
比如：
如果是向別人提起你的學長姐，通常會用 ___ year(s) ahead of me 的說法
例如：
像是：

He was two years ahead of me in school.
(他在學校比我大兩屆。)
I just found out (that) Lisa and I went to the same junior high school, but she was a year ahead of me.
(我剛剛發現我和莉莎唸同一所國中，但她比我大一屆。)
A guy who was three years ahead of me in college happens to be a coworker.
(一個大學大我三屆的學長剛好是我的同事。)
She was two years ahead of me in high school.如果是學弟妹就把 ahead of 改成 behind
(她是高中大我兩屆的學姐。)
像是：
He was a year behind me in college.
(他是大學小我一屆的學弟。)
