「腸胃炎」在一般生活中的口語說法是 stomach flu [ˋstʌmək flu]
(醫學專有名詞是 gastroenteritis [͵gæstro͵ɛntəˋraɪtɪs]
但一般人很少會用這個字，講了很多人可能也聽不懂)
雖然「腸胃炎」裡面有「流感」flu 這個字，但它並不是被別人傳染的疾病
而是腸胃感染到病毒所發生的拉肚子、想吐、腹痛等症狀
一般是食物所引起的
在講自己得了腸胃炎時，和英文中多數疾病一樣，是用 have 這個動詞
而且要在 stomach flu 前加定冠詞 the
比如：
或是 I had food poisoning. (食物中毒)
至於吃壞東西或得了腸胃炎的症狀
「拉肚子」叫 have the runs
(也可用diarrhea [daɪə`riə] 這個字，但它也是醫學名詞)
「想吐」是 feel sick / feel nauseous [ˋnɔʃəs]
另外還有 feel like throwing up / feel like vomiting 等說法
如果已經吐了那就用動詞 vomit [ˋvɑmɪt]、puke [pjuk]、throw up 等

來造個句：
