於是以為中文裡在指人與人之間吵架後的 ”冷戰” 也是 cold war
這又是一個錯誤的用法
英文中指兩個人互相看不順眼, 處在敵對的狀態, 可以用 be at war 這個片語
比如: Tina and her sister are at war these days.
或 They are at war with each other.
但是因為吵架而不跟彼此說話的 ”冷戰” 狀態不能說什麼 They are at a cold war.
正確的說法是: give someone the silent treatment
比如: Kelly and her husband are giving each other the silent treatment.
或 Steve’s girlfriend gave him the silent treatment for a week.
有時你可能會看到人家用 cold war 來形容兩人之間的狀況
但那不是在指他們因為吵架而彼此不講話而已
